Base Shear – Total design lateral force or shear at the base.

Braced Wall Panel – A section of wall (of light-framed construction) braced (constructed) in accordance with the code.

Building Official – The officer or other designated authority charged with the administration and enforcement of the building code, or a duly authorized representative.

Buildings – Structures, usually enclosed by walls and a roof, constructed to provide support or shelter for an intended occupancy.
